The falling leaves, the cool breeze, the hot coffee I’m sipping, the boots I haven’t seen in months; ah, my favorite season has returned once more! Being from Washington, it’s a little obvious that I would absolutely just love this time of year. I guess I’m just not all that much of a summer person… There’s just so many fun and exciting things that begin with autumn: I mean, you got the pumpkin patch, then Halloween, which means (quite literally) super sweet deals on candy, and of course Thanksgiving comes next with all the delicious food, and then (everyone’s favorite) Christmas and all the joy that goes along with that and finally, we finish out the year with a bang on New Year’s Eve, waiting patiently and eagerly to welcome in another fresh year.
As I’ve welcomed autumn back with open arms, I’ve been starting to feel really great about the direction my life is going. Michael and I have made some pretty big changes lately and I’m already beginning to get a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel, as we slowly, but surely make our way toward a bright and better future…
Day 8: 5 Current Goals
Pay off debt
Everyone has it. You promise yourself that you’ll never get buried up to your neck in it, and then there you are fighting for air just like the rest of us. Although it’s only been a year and a half since we actually established credit at all, you’d be surprised how much can accrue in such a short amount of time! 18 months, five credit cards, and nearly 10,000 dollars later and voila! Our plan is to be completely debt free within the next couple years. I think we can do it!
Get Hadley potty trained
If you’re a parent, you know this one all too well. The thing is, toddlers are almost entirely hit or miss. They either love something, or they loathe it with a fiery passion. You can see where this is headed… Fellow parents, I salute you.
Save money
On top of paying off all of our outstanding debts, Michael and I are really trying to save as much cash as we can. After we got engaged last Christmas, we made a goal for ourselves to save $1,500 for a summer 2016 wedding. Money saved so far: nada. However, at the start of the New Year, I decided to give a go at the famous “52 week savings plan” and actually got halfway through before having to emergency withdraw all of it unexpectedly. But there’s still time, right? I plan to start it up again for 2016! J
Go to the dentist
Not to be gross, but I haven’t been in for a cleaning since about a year before I became pregnant with Hadley. She’s almost two, you do the math. This is something that just gets away from us sometimes, as we try to be the responsible and mature adult we’ve heard so much about. (This is probably the most urgent goal of all, hopefully within the next month or so!)
Blog consistently
As broad as that sounds, I just want to maintain as organized and frequent posting schedule as I possibly can. Ever since I started this blog, I’ve felt that it it’s something I can do to unwind after a long day and just express how I’m feeling in a different way than I normally would. I’ve always found it somewhat difficult to discuss my emotions, so rather than ramble on and on about all the things that bug me, or make me happy, or make me cry like a baby, I can just take all that emotion and put it into my blogging. It’s something that gives me motivation and gives me drive to keep doing what I do every single day. This is one goal that I know I can reach!
