Well, it’s that time of year again; Target is going crazy with BABY DEALS!! And although Hadley is a toddler now and working on using the big girl potty, I can never refuse a great deal on diapers! (There will be another baby around eventually, right?)
So this week, there were two huge baby department coupons available; receive a $20 gift card with a $125 purchase or receive a $40 gift card with a $200 purchase. And well, let’s just say I was feeling adventurous and decided to go for the big one. Here’s what my transaction included:
- 2 Boxes of Huggies Pull-Ups- ($24.99 ea) = $49.98 (Buy 2, get a $10 gift card)
- 2 Boxes of Huggies Overnights- ($24.99 ea) = $49.98 (Buy 2, get a $10 gift card)
- 3 jumbo packs of Huggies Little Snugglers and 1 Little Movers ($8.99 ea) = $35.96
- 2 jumbo packs of Huggies Snug N’ Dry ($7.99 ea) = $15.98
- 2 packages of Little Swimmers ($9.99 ea) = $19.98
- 2 boxes of Huggies wipes ($8.99 ea) = $17.98
- 3 single packages of Huggies wipes ($1.97, $1.47, $2.39 ea) = $5.83
- 3 cannisters of Gerber Graduates puffs ($1.87 ea) = 5.61
TOTAL: $201.30
I know what you’re thinking. And yes, that’s a lot of diapers! But if you’re a parent, or know someone who has little ones, then you know that diapers aren’t cheap! This is exactly the reason why I just had to take advantage of this fabulous deal! Now, if you wanna know how my deal went down, I’ve included a complete break down with all the coupons I used!
- -$40 gift card back for $200 baby department purchase Target mobile coupon (it’s important to always scan the threshold coupon first, otherwise any other coupons used might dip you below the purchase requirement!)
- -(2) $3/2 both Huggies boxed diapers and wipes Target coupons (peelies that I found in the store!)
- -(2) $1/1 Huggies Snug N’ Dry diapers Target coupons (also a peelie on the jumbo packs! This was actually a big surprise, saving me $2.00 extra that I wasn’t planning on! :D)
- -(4) $3/1 Huggies Little Snugglers or Little Movers Manufacturer coupons
- -(4) @2.50/1 Huggies diapers coupon (any) Manufacturer coupons (used on the Overnights and Snug N’ Dry jumbo packs
- -(1) $2.00/1 Huggies wipes 300 ct. or larger Manufacturer coupons (only had one of these unfortunately, so I had to improvise and use a lower value coupon on the other box)
- -(1) $1/1 Huggies wipes 180 ct. or larger Manufacturer coupon
- -(3) $.50/1 Huggies wipes 32 ct. or larger Manufacturer coupons (I had three different sizes of wipes because I had a fussy girl on my hands and just kinda grabbed what was available)
- -(2) $2/1 Huggies Pull-Ups Manufacturer coupons
- -(2) $1/1 Huggies Little Swimmers Target coupons
- -5% Little Swimmers Cartwheel ($.60)
- -(2) $2/1 Huggies Little Swimmers Manufacturer coupons
- -(1) $1/3 Gerber Graduates items Manufacturer coupon (the puffs were meant to be a filler item in order to push me over the $200 requirement, and my daughter loves them so it worked out great!)
- -Received $25 in gift cards (on top of the $40 one, so $65 in gift cards total)
- -Used 5% REDcard savings
My total OOP (out of pocket) expense came to $148.01 before tax, but I received the $65 in gift cards, making my total after all discounts $83.01 (an almost 60% savings!)
Now, this savings in itself is pretty awesome; all my hours of preparation were well worth it! But after the transaction is all closed out, the remaining question that you have to ask yourself is what to do with the gift cards? Personally, I tend to use them immediately toward a second transaction in order to get the most out of the shopping trip.
In this particular trip, I decided to apply the gift cards to a transaction of food and other products that I needed around the house. This included breakfast food, meat, fresh fruit and veggies, juice, yogurt, dish soap, bread, eggs, milk, and sunscreen. The retail value of the groceries came to $93.76, but with coupons and sales, the price was brought down to $55.48. After my gift cards were used, I didn’t have to pay anything OOP for the transaction, and I even had $9.52 remaining! The entirety of products that I purchased can be seen below…
The retail value for everything purchased was $297.06, but OOP I only paid $162.10 (after tax) and still have $9.52 remaining on my gift cards! This trip truly reflects the love and devotion that I possess for couponing. With me being at home with Hadley full-time, I’m constantly looking for ways that I can help out and save us some money, and couponing has provided me a way to do just that! I just hope that I can inspire others to take initiative and start taking advantage of these great deals themselves! 🙂
