Hadley’s Adventure Time Party!

Shares

This weekend was so. much. fun! Had’s long awaited birthday party was finally fulfilled and the theme she chose was super awesome.

Adventure Time! It’s been her obsession for the past couple months, ever since I showed her the first episode on Hulu. The best part was that I got to make everything so colorful and vibrant!I made the majority of the decorations the night/morning before the party out of construction paper and mainly dollar store materials.

The banner is just construction paper and permanent marker.

The Jake the Dog and Finn the Human figures were bought from Amazon, and the little goodie bags were from Dollar Tree with little handmade Jake faces glued on. This was one of the parts that took the most time, as all the eyeballs and noses had to be cut out individually.

This adorable little centerpiece is also from Amazon and it really tied everything together!

And of course we had to have some wall decor! We have Finn and Jake again, as well as a Lady Rainicorn made from streamers.

These were made from dollar store party pompoms and more construction paper.

Lady Rainicorn was definitely the most time consuming aspect, as I had to tape it about a million times to get it to stay in the shape that I wanted. Her face and legs were made from construction paper and her mane was made from Had’s paper roll for her easel.

Her legs and tail stuck out the back and it ended up looking so cute!

The game I decided on was a simple “pin the cake on Jake” activity for the kids to play and it was actually really fun! The cakes are made from - you guessed it - construction paper and the board itself was a dollar store poster with a big Jake drawn by Yours Truly.

And as for the food…

The main dish was super simple; just some Gardein meatless meatballs in marinara sauce, served on hoagie rolls. They were an absolute hit!

We also had some Rainicorn poop (Airhead Xtremes) and Lumpy Space treats (rice crispy treats dyed purple with sprinkles).

The rice crispy treats were made with One Degree crispy rice cereal, Dandies marshmallows, coconut oil, and Earth Balance spread.

The punch is just gatorade and Sprite. Super simple but delicious! And then there was the cake… I found a rainbow layer cake tutorial on Pinterest and modified it to be vegan by using Duncan Hines cake mix and frosting and an egg replacer.

It turned about absolutely amazing! My sister Kendall ended up frosting it for me while I was doing the cleaning and decorating and I can’t thank her enough for making it sooo incredibly perfect looking!

And yes, it was a hit too. The biggest hit of the day, actually!

Had loved her party so much and she had such a great time with all her family and a few friends. Overall it was a great time and I’m so thankful to have such awesome people in our lives!

Happy birthday my sweet, sweet Hadley. (Aka Finn the Human!)
