Easy Avocado Ranch Sauce

Avocado; the nutrient dense staple of any vegan diet. These brown, bumpy little fruits are probably one of the best foods for you. Why? For one, they contain “the good fat” aka heart-healthy monounsaturated fat. They also aid in the absorption of fat-soluble nutrients, such as vitamins A, D, E, and K. Naturally, avocados are free of sodium, sugar, and cholesterol!

Not to mention the fact that they are so. dang. good. Their creaminess and unique flavor make them excellent for smoothies, sandwiches, and even ice cream. And I’m sure you’ve heard of guacamole?! The avocado is so versatile and magnificent, and there are no other foods that are quite like it.

I had the pleasure of “discovering” the avocado shortly after my vegan awakening, and I haven’t looked back since. I love to experiment and create my own recipes, so the other day I kind of just whipped something together and it turned out so well, I just had to share!

I am someone who lives for a good sauce. Pesto, marinara, garlic, you name it. You’ll never see me eating a dry sandwich. I was looking to make something quick and simple the other night for dinner, and luckily I had come across these in the store over the weekend:

I had never seen them before, but I think that with the success of other vegan alternatives like Gardein, stores are beginning to put out their own plant-based options. (I found these at Fred Meyer.) I usually just put ketchup or BBQ sauce on our burgers, but I wanted to do something new.

I didn’t have any basil to do a pesto-style sauce, so I wondered if there was something else I could use instead. Avocados frequently go on sale this time of year, so I usually stock up with five or six at a time. There were a couple that were ripe and ready, so I thought, “what the heck”, and that’s when the experimentation began!

I don’t wanna say that I kinda just threw a bunch of stuff into the food processor to see what happened but… I kinda just threw a bunch of stuff into the food processor to see what happened.

Avocado, olive oil, ranch, garlic, salt, and pepper. That’s all you need! I used Just Ranch, pink Himalayan salt, and black peppercorns. It takes just a few minutes to make, and it’s so dang good!

Once it’s blended, you can try a little bit of it and see if you want to add anything else to it. I personally think some nooch (aka nutritional yeast) would be awesome in it!

In the end, the burgers were a hit. Plant-based recipes don’t always have to be super fancy, extravagant, or expensive. Sometimes, you can work with what you have and make something amazing!
