Fourth of July Weekend

Fourth 01

Ahhh, our first holiday as a family of four! We spent most of our weekend all cozied up at home, but it was still super fun! I mean, who doesn’t enjoy staying in with the fam every now and then? 🙂

Fourth 02

I have the exact same reaction when I get to hold a super sweet, tiny baby.

Aside from the occasional tantrum and/or meltdown, Hadley has actually adjusted very well to having a new baby around. She is such a good helper/burp cloth grabber/binkie fetcher/baby calmer. Seriously, though! When River cries, she’ll go over to her and say “It’s okay baby!” and then stroke her hair and try to soothe her. Cutest thing ever! Or, if I’m in the other room when she starts to cry, Hadley doesn’t hesitate to come tell me!

On Sunday, we traveled over to my mom’s house on the peninsula and Hadley got to have some Brodie time! These two seriously crack me up; they’ll just chase each other around forever until they both zonk out. Too cute!

Patriotic baby alert! So I may or may not have been dying to put her in this outfit for weeks. Aaaaand I may or may not have bought it before she was even born. Yeah, it’s that cute.

My girls rockin’ the red, white, and blue! It’s so cute seeing them interact with each other. Hadley’s gotten a few smiles already!

For the Fourth, we decided to continue our family tradition for the third time and head to the Everett waterfront for the fireworks show. It is Washington, though, so of course it was cloudy and drizzly the whole time. But that’s what layers are for, right?

And it wouldn’t be the Fourth of July without some friendly competition! Ladder ball is one of the best ways to pass the time while waiting for the fireworks to start. It requires little energy, is super fun, and is great for entertaining the kiddos too!

Fourth 07

River spent the majority of the evening all nestled up in her car seat. She’s already a pretty warm baby to begin with (just like her dad and sister) so she didn’t have any trouble staying warm! (I seriously don’t know how they all do it, though, since I am actually a reptile.) Once the show started, I had her so bundled that she hardly even responded to the noise of the fireworks.

The day ended with an awesome fireworks show and two very sleepy girls. Overall, a successful first holiday as a foursome and I can’t wait for many, many more. ♥
